Description:
The Belgrade - Niš Railway is the backbone of the Serbian railway network and the longest section of Railway Corridor X in Serbia (approx. 230 km). The implementation of the Belgrade - Niš Railway Modernisation is strategic to the country and to its connectivity with the European rail networks. It is one of the most important investments in the extended Core TEN-T and its investment costs are estimated to amount to EUR 2.8 billion. The Contract concerns the comprehensive modernisation, reconstruction, and upgrade of the Section Paraćin - Trupale of the Belgrade - Niš railway line. The Republic of Serbia intends to finance the Project through multiple sources, including the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF). The Contracting Authority aims to conclude a design and build contract with a Contractor, in accordance with FIDIC Contract Conditions for “Plant and Design-Build” (“Yellow Book”), for the comprehensive modernisation, reconstruction, and upgrade of the Section Paraćin - Trupale of the Belgrade - Niš railway line (excluding Stalać - Djunis). The alignment of the double-track railway line section starts in Paraćin passenger station and ends in Trupale station with a total length of 61 km (excluding Stalać - Djunis).
